A Paws Bookmark Encourages Reading
As your children start to read longer books or as you read
longer books to them, a happy bookmark featuring the
puppy Paws can help keep your place. The easy-to-make bookmark can be downloaded free from www.traitordachshund.com. Simply cut out the front and back sections and glue them together. There's a spot to personalize the bookmark with a child's name. If you'd like a sturdier version, you can print the bookmark on card stock or glue a popsicle stick between the two sections. |

A Few Minutes with Author Joe Tavano Joe Tavano lives in New York City and has visited schools to talk about A Dachshund's Wish. Joe also does readings for children at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. "Nurses read most of the story, and then I pop in to read the last chapter as a surprise," Joe said. "It's one of the best things I do." We asked Joe some quick questions. What have you been working on lately? I create television programming and recently finished a series for Nickelodeon called Kindergarten Here I Come. This Nickelodeon series follows the ups and downs and learnings of a group of kindergarteners from their first day when they are nervous and unsure of what they're going to be doing in the classroom through the last day, when they are very close friends and don't want their kindergarten experience to end. The series ends with a big graduation and the classmates moving on to first grade. Are you working on any other children's projects? Yes, I have another work in progress with Traitor Dachshund. I'm sure this year will be very productive. How has the publication of A Dachshund's Wish influenced your life? A Dachshund's Wish has opened up so many wonderful lives to me, most especially the children whom I've been privileged to meet along the way. I'm looking forward to sharing the story of Paws with even more kids this year. |
